Las Vegas does tend to attract a lot of big business conventions.I remember, on one occasion, hearing about a computer convention that was being held over a few days in one of the major casino chains.I made my way down there and set up my table with a full display of all the sunglasses that I had, neatly arranged upon their respective cases, right outside where the convention was being held...

Continued :
This was at around 12 noon and it happened to be a very hot, bright sunny day.I noticed that most of the people entering and exiting the convention weren't wearing sunglasses and so , I surmised, that I could be on to a good thing. My sales pitch started off with something like this :
“ ladies and gentlemen look up at that blinding sun in the sky, think about the damage that it can do to your eyes, think about it and act upon it,--Oakleys--Ray-Bans--Armanies-- all must be sold today, closing down clearence sale, unbeatable prices---, ladies and gentlemen protect your eyes at all costs, I mean even in the shade you need sunglasses, what ? with that glaring bright sun and all ”.
After approximately two hours of using this highly sophisticated pitch I still hadn’t sold one fucking pair of glasses, and I remember thinking to myself, had the, so called, intellectual elite of America never heard of protection for their eyes, especially considering the day that was in it, blazingly sunny, the dumb mother fucking idiots I whispered. As the day progressed, still with no sales, my frustration level gradually increased and my sales pitch slowly transformed into, at first, a Pro-Castro low toned pitch, and as the evening advanced, still with no fucking sales, a fairly aggressive high toned pitch of both Pro-Castro and Pro-Cuban rhetoric, until finally I lost it completely and went on for about an hour screaming out the virtues of Fidels Communist State, and denigrating the flaws inherent within “ The Great United States of America ", or the mother fucking “ Land of milk and Honey ”.Of course, it was all to no avail, as I still didn’t sell one pair of sunglasses.Whether people heard or were in anyway aware of what I was saying, I don’t really know and I didn’t really care, because the only thing that interested me was selling the glasses, and how I was to achieve that goal, be it by just attracting attention, was totally irrelevant to me.
